Northwoods Young Professionals
Northwoods Young Professionals is a new organization based out of the Rhinelander area. We currently host events and programming in Minocqua, Rhinelander, and Tomahawk. However, we have members who travel from Phillips, Wausau, and Eagle River as well.
Niina Baum and Kristen Carlson discovered they were not the only ones that saw a need for a young professionals group. Both decided to join forces and move forward with starting the Northwoods Young Professionals. See their bios below.
To bring young professionals together socially and professionally to better attract and retain young talent in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
To showcase what the Northwoods has to offer professionally, socially, and recreationally through events and programming designed to engage current residents and attract new residents.
Niina Baum: Co-Founder
Niina grew up in northern Wisconsin in a small town of only 100 people. After completing her B.S. in Business Administration through Northland College, she spent time working in Green Bay, WI as a Marketing & Communications Manager and in Willow, AK as a Marketing & Operations Director. She also served as a board member for the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce and was Chairperson of the Talkeetna Economic Development Committee. However, she always longed to come back to northern Wisconsin and after gaining experience she found the perfect opportunity to come back. She currently is a board member for the OCWBTC and United States Federation of Sleddog Sports (USFSS) and works at Nicolet College as its Social Media Strategist.
Kristen Carlson: Co-Founder
Kristen was born and raised in central Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with a BA in Communications. She moved up to the Northwoods in February 2019 and currently works as a professional photographer.
